If you are anything like most Americans, you are probably going to keep your prom pictures for a long time. If you want to make sure your pics are worth keeping, and aren't going to end up as garbage material, here are a few tips.
One is that you will need excellent makeup. If you aren't totally sure how to do your own, you might want to consider a lesson or pre-prom makeup appointment. Your makeup also has to last through the night. You don't want something that looks great when you walk out the door, but looks muddy by the time dinner is done, a few hours of dancing is done, and it is time to take professional photos.
There is sometimes pressure to perfectly match your makeup to your gown. Be very careful with this! A bright blue dress may be stunning on your body, but bright blue eye shadow might not compliment your face. Go for what looks good on you, not just with your dress.
Check your hair before the big moment. Bring a couple of extra bobby pins in your handbag just in case something gets loose and needs a touchup.
This part sounds a little silly, but you could practice a good stance and smile in the mirror or with a digital camera to make sure you master a beautiful and natural smile. This might also help you to practice good posture: you don't want to look slumped over in your pictures.
Keep your head up and remember to smile for the camera. A great picture makes for a great prom memory!
